Saturday October 31, 2015 60 volunteers packaged 17,064 meals. The food was distributed to Haiti, Tyendinaga Food Bank, Gleaners Food Bank and the Salvation Army. This was a landmark event for KAHC because it pushed the total meals packaged by Kids Against Hunger volunteers to over 1 million since the creation of the charity in 2009. Volunteers came from the Rotary Club, Scouts Canada and Loyalist College Social Service Students and soccer team. Event sponsors included the Rotary Club of Belleville, Hanley Corp., McDougall Insurance, the Salvation Army and Tim Hortons. Past president of Rotary, Fred Mandryk, says of their work with KAHC, "Kids Against Hunger is making young people aware of starvation that exists. We live in this wonderful society. We have all kinds of food; all kinds of places to go for education; but around the world, keep in mind every 6 - 12 seconds a child dies of starvation. By feeding them a meal we can provide hope for another day! Without kids there is no tomorrow."
